Licensing & devices
Smritsavant is sold as one-time perpetual licenses. No subscription exists. This page is the complete, plain-arithmetic version of how it works.
The trial
- 14 days, full-featured, started with just your email — a one-time online activation, then the app runs offline (with a 30-day offline grace between occasional license refreshes).
- When the trial ends the app becomes read-only: you can open, search, export, and delete everything, forever. Nothing is deleted and nothing is held hostage. There is no free tier beyond this — read-only is the permanent unpaid state.
- One trial per person: re-registering the same machine under a different email won’t restart it.

Slots stack. Your account’s capacity is the sum across all active licenses — e.g. Android + Single Desktop = 1 desktop + 1 mobile.
The upgrade credit
upgrade price = max(0, $29 − everything you've paid)Every non-refunded purchase on your account counts toward Cross-Platform — including App Store and Google Play purchases, once you link them by email from the app (store purchases are anonymous until you opt in to linking).

No waiting periods, no clawbacks, no expiry on the credit. Once you hold Cross-Platform, later purchases are normal face-price transactions (a third desktop is just $10).
Devices
See every activated device — with platform and last-seen time — and deactivate any of them from your account page. If you hit your slot cap activating a new device, the app shows your current devices right there and lets you retire one; the freed slot applies immediately.
Updates and major versions
Honestly stated: your license is perpetual — the version you bought never stops working. Updates ship free within a major version. When a future major version (2.0) ships, it’s a new purchase; the previous major keeps receiving fixes for 90 days after that release, then rests. That model — not subscriptions, not ads, not your data — is what funds development.
Refunds
Direct purchases (Lemon Squeezy): 30 days, no questions — email support@smritsavant.com. App Store and Google Play purchases follow the stores’ own refund processes, which we can’t override.
Sign-in
There are no passwords. Account access is by magic link — enter your email on the account page and click the link we send. The account stores license and device records only; your notes are never in it.
